Introducing the Move Committee

Sept. 9, 2009

Dear Shambhala Sangha,

The Board of Trustees is happy to announce the Boston Shambhala Center's Move Committee. Please come to our Harvest of Peace community celebration, and the follow-up community meeting about the move on October 12th, 7pm at the Shambhala Center, to hear directly from them and the Board of Trustees about the move. Below is the Move Committee's directive, followed by descriptions of each member. We are very excited to have them on board.

The Move Committee has been given the directive, by the Board of Trustees, to research, develop, and locate the new location for the center. Our goal is to work with the entire Boston sangha in gathering lungta and wisdom to find a fresh and exciting new location for the center. A center that naturally provides new opportunities for us to both enrich our practice and more fully engage the greater community. The committee sees this move as both a practice in and of itself, and also a chance for our community to manifest what a group of open hearted Shambhala Warriors can accomplish.
The committee is comprised of:

Anthony Miller, Chairman
Anthony grew up in the Shambhala Community and is the owner of a successful restaurant in East Cambridge. Anthony joined the committee because he believes this move will provide a huge benefit to both the Sangha and the Boston community.

Nick Kranz, Representative of the Board of Trustees
Nick has been leading the Under 30 group at the Shambhala Center for the last five years. He is also a consultant, teaching meditation to businesses.

Ian Newton, Secretary
Ian is serving as Secretary for the Committee and will be assisting with administrative coordination. His professional background includes 10 years of finance and operations in a non-profit setting. He has been a member of Shambhala for 5 years. He joined the committee because of his interest in learning about capital campaigns, and organizational effectiveness. He is most excited about learning how to integrate "traditional" business with "Buddhist ethics."

Carolyn Krusinski PhD, Committee Member
Carolyn brings 25 years in business development and 30 years of membership wihin Shambhala. She is inspired to work on the committee to bring her understanding of joining vision and practicality in helping to move individual and social manifestation forward for a wide variety of people and organizations and creating a powerful seat for the Sakyong to teach in Boston.

John Ranco, Committee Member
As a member of the Boston Shambhala Center for the past two years, John has been completely moved by the community, the teachings and the vision. It is with this in mind that he was drawn to serve on the Move Committee to share his professional experience with this important challenge. John has been in the real estate business for the past 13 years and is a licensed Real Estate Broker Associate with Gibson Sotheby's International Realty. He currently serves on two boards, The Greater Boston Association of Realtors and HomeStart.org. Previous to Real Estate John was in the retail industry for over 20 years and has owned several businesses.

Gary Shapiro, Committee Member
Gary has been working in the business world for 25 years. He is a board member and volunteer at Haley House. He joined the committee to facilitate discussion, ideas, and actions involving various activities that are appropriate and enriching for the Shambhala community and the greater New England community.

Larry Teitelbaum, Committee Member
Larry has been a member of the Boston Center for sixteen years and was intimately involved in the Center's last move from Newton to Brookline. He brings extensive experience in banking to the committee.
