About Us The Boston Shambhala Meditation Center is part of an international community of more than 180 meditation centers founded by Vidyadhara Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche and is currently led by his son and lineage holder Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. The Shambhala Buddhist path, unique in the world of Western Buddhism, combines the teachings of the Kagyu and Nyingma traditions of Tibetan Buddhism with the Shambhala view of living an uplifted life, fully engaged with the world. The Shambhala Center emphasizes the practice of meditation based on both the Buddhist and Shambhala teachings, and the meditation-in-action of Nalanda Arts. We offer a large range of classes and events for newcomers, those interested in exploring a full path of practice and study, and our more advanced students (tantrikas). We also host community gatherings, and celebrations. In community life, we endeavor to put into practice the principles of courage and compassion. This helps us to experience daily life as a constant opportunity for spiritual practice and social service. Working with the Touching the Earth working group, we are doing all that we can to ensure that we become a powerful force for societal transformation in accordance with the principles and practices of both warriorship and sustainability.
