The Boston Shambhala Center is pleased to offer a course of study surveying the Vidyadhara Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche's thorough presentation of the vajrayana using the seminary transcripts. The course will be in two parts: Ground and Path tantra and Fruition Tantra.

Course one, Ground and Path tantra, covers the basics of vajrayana as presented in seminaries up to and including a thorough examination of mahamudra.  This first course is a prerequisite for the second, as most of the essential basic vajrayana principles will not be covered in the second class.  The second (beginning in October) starts with mahamudra and covers the three higher tantric yanas with special emphasis on Maha Ati or Dzogchen.  These courses are particularly designed for students who have not yet studied in detail this precious heritage which is only available to Vajradhatu/Shambhala tantrikas (those who have attended a vajrayana seminary) although both newer and more experienced tantrikas are most welcome.  Upon completion of both parts of this course of study, students should have a reasonably good grasp of the view and practice of the nine- yana journey and how the Primordial Rigden ngondro, Werma, and Scorpion Seal teachings being emphasized by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, can be understood in light of the presentation by the Vidyadhara.

The course will require students to buy or borrow vajrayana transcripts.  Almost all older students have these transcripts and would probably love to loan them out for a time.  Also, we will put a set of the transcripts required for the first class on reserve in the cabinet in the suite at the center.  We may be able to do this regularly.  If you would like to order any of the transcripts we will be using from 1973 to 1982, please email Michael Fagan at sharchen@earthlink.net who can order through the center, as soon as possible.  Hopefully by this Friday.  He can save you money on shipping.
